  FAQs

When my husband and I started looking for a pre-school for our oldest daughter, we immediately thought of Little Tot. We are both from this area and were familiar with the school. However, we did not know that the school was under new management. Once we entered our daughter in the program we were so impressed! The staff, classroom environment, and what our daughter was being taught was so beyond our expectations. Mrs. Borrero (and her staff) take the time to know each student individually. From personal preferences (child's favorite color, food, etc..) to each child's learning style and level. Mrs. Borrero's staff is kind, gentle, and very understanding of all the children enrolled. The school is a true gem and we feel the best pre-school program the area has to offer.

Our Curriculum:

Our three year old curriculum focuses on socialization. For most children this is their first time away from home and their first time with a group of peers. They will learn to work together, share, use their manners, and explore their environment. They will also learn their ABC's, colors, shapes, numbers 1-50, art, gross skills, fine motor development, language and much more!

Our four year old program includes all of the above, as well as science, simple math, phonics, numbers 1-100, handwriting, calendar, Spanish, projects, art, music, dance, and many movement activities!

Our three and four year old combined program includes all of the above. This program is recommended for children who required a little more structure, consistency and CHALLENGE!

At Little Tot Nursery School your child will learn by doing. Here 90% of the activities are done hands on by the children. Circle time includes listening activities (when the teacher is reading or speaking to the children) and physical activities, where the children act out a story or song. The children also have certain responsibilities, such as clean up, putting their belongings in their back pack and serving their own snack. All of this takes time to learn, but by mid year...they are experts!

Our day has a certain structure, but I am very flexible and tailor to the individual needs of my students.

Here is the order in which our program flows:

The time frame depends on the group of children, meaning that more time or less time may be needed for each activity depending on the needs of the children.

8:30am -9:00am- Free Play

Children are able to play in any area of the classroom. This includes: The Block Center, Writing Center, Dramatic Play Center, Book Corner, Computer Center, Puzzles and Table Toys, Store, Wood Working, Sensory Tables (wet or dry), Painting Easel, Science Center, or Circle Time Center.

9:00 am - 9:10 am- Clean Up Time

The bell rings, clean up music is turned on , and the children begin to put all the toys back where they belong.

9:10 am - 9:30 am- Circle Time

During Circle Time our younger students work on social skills, finger plays, gross motor skills, counting, shape, letter , and number recognition. We also talk about monthly themes, up coming events, listen to stories and sing songs. The older children work on the above skills as well as, calendar, weather, phonics, math skills, projects, and much more.

9:30 am - 10:00 am- Art

Children gather at the back tables for our group art activity. This may consist of finger painting, cutting, gluing, drawing, etc. By sitting together as a group for art the children learn to work together, take their time, listen and follow directions, ask for help, talk about their work and much more.

10:00 am - 10:10 am- Snack Time

After art, the children wash their hands, get their own cup and napkin to set their place at the table and put their head down until all the children are seated. Then a "Good Fairy" is picked to tap each child on the head with the magic wand. Once the "Good Fairy" taps their head, they put their heads up and we give thanks. Together we say "Thank you for this lovely day, for food and friends and time to play. Bon Apetit, now you may eat."

10:20 am - 10:30 am- Spanish

The children will learn basic Spanish vocabulary through song. Vocabulary includes, colors, numbers 1-10, body parts, days of the week and months of the year.

10:30 am - 11:00 am- Playground Time

Weather permitting. If we are unable to go outside we will have a second circle time, Yoga, Story or Free Play.

The same order is followed for the afternoon sessions. Music Class with Andy "The Music Man" is held every other Wednesday from 1:15 pm - 2:15 pm. Dance Class with Mrs. Jenn is held every Friday from 1:30 pm - 2:00 pm.
